Overview

In 2001, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) approved amendments to the Uniform Intergovernmental Family Support Act (UIFSA). At this time, NCCUSL expanded the definition of “state” to include foreign countries. The federal OCSE provides guidance for local IV-D programs working with specific countries and international cases in general.
